WAYNE WILLEMS FOR ARKANSAS HOUSE - DISTRICT 15

Share my page

I am a Libertarian candidate running for the Arkansas House of Representatives for District 15, which includes parts of Hot Spring County, Jefferson County and Grant County.

My Story

I am a father, grandfather and have been self-employed for years. Over this timeframe I started noticing something was very wrong with the government at home and at the federal level, so I began researching and studying history, economics and law.

I typically never intended on being part of the government but after being hopeful many times over the years during election time. I found We The People continued to elect not so genuine people to our government. This is very disheartening and discourage to me and all of us!

This will be the 4th time I have run against a Republican incumbent in my district. Though he is a nice man, I really don't feel he has represented our District or our state well. We need a representative that will fight for our natural rights and property. Someone to stand strong and say NO More to big government ideology. I am that man and need your vote November 2020!

More Freedom - Less Government

Issues

Smaller Government

Governments at the local level and federal level have too much power over the people. Throughout history, when the government grants itself to much power through legislation to protect its interests for the Common Good (The Group and not the Individual), the people always suffer from over taxation, inflation, unjust regulations, removal of property rights, fewer freedoms and liberty. America is a Constitutional Republic, it is not a democracy.  There is no mention of democracy in the Declaration of Independents, Bill of Rights or the Constitution.

There are key differences between a democracy and a constitutional republic.
In a republic, a constitution and bill of rights protect certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government, even though it has been elected by a majority of voters. In a "pure democracy," the majority is not restrained in this way and can impose its will on the minority.

The 51% majority can not force their will on the 49% minority that do not have the same beliefs in a Constitutional Republic.

The struggle we have at hand is what form of government do "We The People" want?

I for one support a Republican form of government, which is mentioned in the Constitution for The United States of America. More Freedom, Less Government in our lives maximizes more prosperity and harmony for the people.

The 2nd Amendment and Article II, § 5
The Arkansas State Constitution and Federal Constitution state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
The Federal Constitution - "Article II - A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed".
The Arkansas Constitution - “Article II, § 5 - The citizens of this State shall have the right to keep and bear arms, for their common defense".
I too support the 2nd Amendment and Article II, § 5 100% and will fight against any past, current regulations or future legislation that tries to infringe on this divine right to protect ourselves.

Eliminating Income & Property Taxes
The only way to rein in an over expanding government is to reduce the revenue it receives. The government will never stop growing if the people just keep throwing their hard-earned money at it. Also, the government will never be satisfied with any portion of the tax it will always want more.
Ultimately, the government is only creating government jobs and programs with our tax money and the private sector is actually in a downward spiral in job creation while growing the government Bigger and BIGGER!
I feel that most government jobs and programs would be more efficient if they were private-sector jobs and out-reach programs there would be more accountability or we don't need them.
If you have noticed, government rakes in taxes from many different avenues such as sales tax, gas tax, corporate tax, usage tax, and the list goes on and on. Two of these taxes threaten our freedoms and liberties they are called the income tax and the property tax. The reason these two taxes are so bad for the prosperity of Arkansans both eventually at some point seize and take away our property if we can not pay them or refuse to pay them.
Property is the foundation of Freedom and Liberty if we do not own our property outright, we are not free... I support ending these two taxes and diminishing the threat we now face owning private property.

Right To Own Property
The very foundation of Freedom and Liberty is Property you can have neither without the other. As it now stands, we are tenants on the property we dwell upon. Even after we have bought and paid for our homes and cars the government still wants our money.
Our private property should never be in the equation, the government is only supposed to protect our property. Not generate a revenue stream from it and hold it above our heads.
Polished politicians in the two major parties will not tell the people there are better options to generate revenue.
Here are a few ideas:
i.

Make income and property tax voluntary - If citizens want to contribute to government funds they should have the choice to do so or not. Simply, if the government-funded program is benefiting the private-public and it is working great, citizens would be happy to contribute. But, on the other hand, if the government-funded program was not benefiting the private-public this would end it. The government didn't end it, the people did by not supporting it. This is how the free market works in the private sector every day, why should it not be used in the government sectors.

ii.

The government collects donations from GOFUNDME accounts - Again, if the government is doing a good job the citizens would be happy to show appreciation. But, if the government is not doing a good job the money slows down.

iii.

Privatize schools and other government-funded programs - This would usher in more accountability. It is near impossible to hold a government agency accountable, but in the private-public, someone could be facing a Sheriff, Judge or possible jail time if there is some funny business going on.

These are only a handful of solutions that could possibly be very effective. Nevertheless, we must remove our property from the hands of the government.
Arkansans must own their property free and clear.

School Choice & Home Schooling
The public education system is a one size fits all institution that has failed our children many times since the creation of the Department Of Education. What a child learns and where a child receives education should always be at the decision of the parent, the government should never have a say in this matter or any influence. I wholeheartedly support school choice and homeschooling in Arkansas and will work with anyone to change the mindset and legislation to return all authority back to the parents to make this choice.

Right To Be Left Alone
It is my belief, just as it was the founders of this countries belief, the people should be left alone to conduct their daily lives as they see fit without any limitations unless they have committed a crime. Such as committing theft, damaging another's property, breaching the peace or harming another.
I have never read anywhere in the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, or the Constitution for the United States of America that mentioned the government is allowed to interact with the people daily. Such as with the use of regulations, ordinances, or offenses in which there is no victim, injured party, or witnesses.
The 4th Amendment of the Federal Constitution states:
Article IV - The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated; and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or Affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.
Arkansas Constitution of 1874 states:
Art. 2, § 15  - The right of the people of this State to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated;  and no warrant shall issue, except upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the person or thing to be seized.
Listed above are the rules (The Law) that each member that enters the government must submit to an oath or affirmation to protect and defend this natural right.
It is the role of government to protect our privacy and the natural right to be left alone. I stand with protecting every Arkansan's right to privacy and will defend it.

Government Staying Out Of Marriage
Personal relationships: Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the governments' treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws. Government does not have the authority to define, license or restrict personal relationships. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships. This from my party platform and I agree with it 100%.

Ending The Failed War On Drugs
After 40 years, since President Richard Nixon signed an executive order (not legislation or an Amendment to the Constitution) and then he was forced from the seat of his presidency because of the Watergate scandal, the United States war on drugs has cost $1 trillion dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives and families have been torn apart.
United States Justice Department data showed that over the past 20 years, the non-violent prisoner population has increased at a rate much faster than the violent prisoner population, and that 77% of the people entering prisons and jails were sentenced for non-violent offenses.
This is absolutely not a working solution and costs the American taxpayer millions a year, plus I might add most of these non-violent offenders are young people right out of school or dropouts. Before they ever get a chance to grow up and get their lives adjusted, they are deemed as criminals to society. Again, this is not a positive solution and I feel ending the war on drugs is a step in the right direction.

Putting An End To Unjust Laws (10th Amendment - Nullification)
Here in the United States it has been estimated that the average person unknowingly breaks at least three criminal laws each and every day. Federal statutes and regulations have become so voluminous and vague that over-reaching prosecutors can target anyone at any time.
This information actually comes from an author/lawyer:
"Three Felonies a Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent (2009), civil-liberties attorney Harvey A. Silverglate".
It would seem every year more new laws and regulations emerge from the state level and at the federal level, in my opinion our lawmakers are backing us all in to a corner with the old cliché "There Oughta Be a Law", wouldn't you agree?
Fortunately, there is a solution embedded in the Constitution the founders of our country left to the people. It is called Article 10 and it states:
Article X - The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
If I am elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives, I will do my best to review past laws on the books and work with the people to repeal or do away with unjust laws that jeopardize our freedoms and liberties.
Sincerely,
Wayne Willems
